First, don't skip dinner. Instead, have something light- go for low-calorie food. Steamed veggies are great.

Second, stop eating 3 hours before going to bed. This way your body has enough time to digest the food and start burning the calories. You will burn even more calories overnight. The combination of the first and second tip will make sure you do not gain weight by eating in the evening.

Third, have something to eat every 2-3 hours. It keeps your blood sugar level constant, reduces cravings and prevents the starvation mode found in very strict diets. Very strict diets will very likely make you gain weight after going off the diet. Avoid those; they do not help women over 40.

And remember: Skipping dinner does not help to lose weight.
